For the love of pets!
At Animates we love pets just as much as you do. When we opened our first store in Christchurch in 1996, our dream was to create a true pet superstore that could offer the complete pet experience, and become the champion of responsible pet ownership.
We've grown a lot since then! The Animates experience can now be enjoyed in 19 stores, where pet lovers will find everything they need for their pets – food, toys, educational books, glossy mags, health products, puppy training, loads of good advice and a constant supply of pets. Most stores have an in-house veterinary service. Some have a grooming parlour.
Since 1996, we’ve introduced pet owners to all sorts of Animates events - Pet Fun Days, Pet Fashion Parade, Aqua Fun Days, Midwinter Christmas Party, Pet Photos with Santa and school holiday activities are just some of the regular attractions on the Animates calendar. We often say that visiting Animates is a bit like a free trip to the zoo! If you’ve never been to one of our stores, why not pack the family into the car, and come in for a look. If you have pets, be sure to bring them too!

Saving Lives Programme
At Animates we’re committed to pets and to responsible pet ownership. So, we’re especially pleased to be working with the SPCA to find loving homes for kittens and puppies through their Saving Lives programme.
It’s another way we’re helping improve animal welfare and helping bring together people and pets.
