Scratchers

Cats love to scratch. They need to scratch to keep their claws sharp and keep their kitty claws in tip-top shape. Scratching also helps cats reduce their stress and release any pent-up energy. Unfortunately, though your cat will often scratch your furniture, curtains, or precious plants around your house – so it’s a good idea to get your fun-loving feline some cat furniture of their own. A cat scratching post, cat scratch pole, or cat tower is the perfect solution that’ll save your own furniture, as well as providing your cat with some entertainment.

Cat scratching posts are particularly important for kittens as they give them the opportunity to release some energy and keep them busy. Look for a cat scratching post with some toys hanging off it – this will help encourage their playful side. If you have got more than one cat in your home a cat scratching pole can be an important meeting point for them to socialise with each other.

There are a variety of cat scratching accessories available. Simple cardboard cat scratchers are an affordable option. You might want a simple cat scratch pole, which can be placed anywhere, or you may want to go the full-hog and treat kitty to a cat tower with multiple levels and poles for them to scratch and play on. Or, if your cat prefers its own private space, there is a range of cat furniture with hidey-holes so they can enjoy some time out.
