Filter is not well designed
Honestly this fish tank is a source of frustration and time wasting. The filter, while ok when working, comes with suction cups to stick it onto the tank that don’t stick so there’s problem one. Second problem is you have to buy random filter media because the media specifically produced for it is hard to get in NZ, third the filter is very annoying to take apart and clean on a monthly basis as recommended to keep it running. It’s just a poor design. Have also had heaps of problems with algae since purchasing this tank and it really has not been with it. The tank itself is simple but do not recommend the filter that comes with it.

Good tank, serves purpose
The tank glass is high quality, no issues with scratching when cleaning (I have fine sand substrate so this is a pain point with cheaper glass.) The lid is heavy duty enough to keep my cats from going fishing while still being easy to remove, the light is a good yellow-white and doesn't flicker. The filter is a little aggressive and I can't comment on other people's issues getting new medium as I've recently replaced it with a sponge filter - the heater comes out of the filter housing to be used separate which is a money saver for sure.
If you care about the filter medium not being exactly the same as what came with the tank, you might have to source it overseas. It's pretty easy to replace the filter itself or just get different sponge medium, it'll work fine :)

Waste of money!
Super frustrating experience as bought this kit to replace an existing fish tank that was leaking. The kit didn't have all the parts, and it appears that there are very few instructions in English to help set up the tank properly. Only finding this out the evening before business close for the holiday, and realising that the filter media isn't available for purchase by Animates who sells the tank.
