What fish can live with Tiger Barbs?: You want to avoid tiny fish that are small enough to get eaten by the tiger barbs. Plus, keep them away from any long-finned fish like betta fish and angelfish that may get nibbled. Finally, barbs believe in gobbling their food as fast as possible and can easily outcompete slow or timid fish during dinner time, potentially starving them over time.
Go with speedy swimmers (e.g, silver tip tetras or zebra danio's) or larger fish that won't eat them. Tiger Barbs swim everywhere but tend to hang out in the middle, so can be kept with bottom dwealers.
What do Tiger Barbs eat?: They are not picky eaters and will devour any omnivore fish food you feed them. They eat very quickly, so try feeding them smaller foods that scatter quickly such as flakes and small pellets so that everyone can eat. A varied diet of different fish foods is essential for them to get plenty of nutrients and vitamins to stay healthy.
Are Tiger Barbs aggressive? This species is classified as semi-aggressive because they are very curious and like to pick on other fish to see what happens. This can end up being too stressful for other fish. Getting a large group of tiger barbs (even if they are different varieties) help reduces fin nipping.

Very active & boisterous. Enjoys free swimming areas and will often "play" in the water current.
Fin-nipping is minimised if kept in large same-species groups. Not suitable for most community tanks as it does fin nip and can be mildly aggressive.
Four tiger-like black vertical stripes on an orange-yellow body make it obvious where this member of the barb family got its common name.
