Description
  • Ideal staple food for all armored catfish (Corydoras, Aspidoras, Brochis, Scleromystax, Dianema, Hoplosternum etc.)
  • Use: let it sink to the bottom of the aquarium. For crepuscular (twilight-active) species, feed only after switching off the lights
  • Natural raw ingredients without artificial additives for a natural diet and healthy armored catfish. Tested on JBL research expeditions in the tropics
  • Very high acceptance even with choosy species thanks to high-quality raw ingredients such as salmon, krill, shrimps and spirulina
  • Package contents: original sealed, air- and light-tight, recyclable tin with dosing aid in the lid

Armored catfish are bottom-dwelling fish species from South America which search for food with their barbels on or in the substrate. That’s why it’s important the substrate is never coarse or sharp-edged. They like to live socially (except C. acutus) and are peaceful creatures.

Armored catfish are omnivores which eat detritus (crushed organic matter) on or in the substrate. This means that their food spectrum covers almost everything that can be found in natural waters. In the JBL PRONOVO CORYDORAS this is taken into account in the composition with plant and animal components.

What do you do if you have different bottom dwellers in one aquarium?
Fish also have a sense of taste and refuse food they don’t like. We do not keep ANY bottom-dwelling species, which would experience problems if they ate from a food tablet intended for another species (e.g. loaches). So feed both types of tablets (e.g. JBL PRONOVO CORYDORAS for armored catfish and JBL PRONOVO BOTIA for loaches) at the same time. It is even beneficial for the fish, as they are being offered more variety.

What is the difference between tablets and wafers?
During the food production process, food tablets (e.g. JBL PRONOVO TAB, JBL PRONOVO CORYDORAS) are mechanically compressed from fine flake or granulate food. Wafers, on the other hand, are thinly cut from a pulp, pressed out of the extruder as a "continuous sausage" and then dried. The diameter of the "sausage" is then the diameter of the wafer. In the case of JBL PRONOVO PLECO, this results in two sizes: M and XL.
In the production process, wafers can be made harder than food tablets, so that they are still available to the sucking catfish as "hard" food to scrape off even after some waiting time (until it gets dark).
