Description

Corydoras paleatus

Temperature: 21 - 27°C
Max Size: 7cm
Temperment: Peaceful bottom-dweller, suitable for community aquariums.
Shoal Size: Best kept in groups - the larger, the better!
Food: Most aquarium foods - will eat from bottom of aquarium.

General Information

Popular catfish with unusual "spotty" appearance. Prefers a planted aquarium with sandy substrate.

As a scaleless fish, Corydoras are particularly sensitive to medications and treatments.

An interesting behavior in this species is the ability to produce sound by abduction (movement away from the middle of the body) of its pectoral fins. This behavior is generally seen during courtship or in juveniles when they are distressed. Another habit they have is "winking" at their owners. This happens due to their articulated eyes that allow them to tilt the eye down and back up without moving the head.

DISCLAIMER
All Live Fish are only available as in-store purchase. Each species may vary to the images and at times colouration may develop in different patterns and at different life stages. Visit in-store and discuss with an Animates team member if you have any questions about our range.
